Sydney Light Rail, May 2001

During May the replacement of the signal heads with LED based units continued. It does seem odd that signal heads less than 2 years old that are not actually part of the day to day running system (the trams are cab-signaled) are being replaced. I suspect LED heads were orginally specified but white LEDs were not available at the time.
The WestEx also had 4 evening close downs late in May with a bus substitue while rail grinding operations were carried out.
During my lunch time photo gathering trip on the 31st of May, I spotted two uniformed SLR staff members doing a letterbox drop of notices about the track work. One handed me a notice when our paths crossed.
